Ailsa is a gem! My son adores her and clearly learns from her. Highly recommended!

Ailsa MacKenzie See Calender

I am a native English speaker from Glasgow, Scotland who has recently moved to Berlin. In September, I will begin working as an Early Learners teacher at a bilingual Kita. I am a very creative, expressive, and caring person. I believe in being kind to those around me and the importance of being a good listener. I decided to leave the UK in 2016 to expand my knowledge in art, design, education, and culture. I first moved to Stockholm to work as an au pair for a family with two young children. I then moved to the Basque Country, where I worked as an au pair for two girls, and as an English language assistant at a primary school. In July 2017, I worked as a coach at The Village, an immersive English summer camp near Madrid organised by one of the top 100 bilingual colleges in Spain. This year, I worked in Bilbao as an English Teacher for Capital Languages and as an Early Learners Educator at the American School of Bilbao. As an au pair I lived with bilingual families, teaching the children English through creative activities, games, storytelling and music. In Stockholm, I was given the opportunity I was given the opportunity to cook for the family most evenings. I am passionate about cooking and healthy eating, so I tried to engage and involve the children in preparing the meals as often as possible. At the American School of Bilbao, where I worked every Saturday, I was part of an amazing team of EL teachers. I taught the youngest class, of children aged four and five. In my class, I hand-made visual material that connected to songs, stories, and activities that all related to the learning objectives. I believe in teaching empathy and kindness to create a supportive environment, and understand the importance of communication, patience, sensitivity, and differentiated instruction for diverse learners.
